About our mission in Uganda

Our Mission

Fruits of faith Uganda (FROFU) is an organisation based in Kyantale village in South Western Uganda. A small bush village near Lake Victoria, Kyantale is inhabited mostly by women, children and the elderly. It is a desperately poor region lacking most of the facilities that sometimes may be taken for granted in the West, such as running water, healthcare and many basic needs.

In 2014 Robert Kawalya, an orphan from the community who had previously visited the UK with the Pearl of Africa Children’s Choir, where he was hosted and subsequently supported by Vanessa Lawrence and her family, came up with an initiative to ensure that the people of his community get the basic needs in life.  Because of his integrity, transparency and dedication, together with extensive community insight and knowledge, Vanessa joined Robert to start FROFU, a community-based organisation which provides support to the people of Kyantale and surrounding area.

The overriding aim of FROFU is to empower the community by giving them hope through a self-supporting and sustainable future.

To date many successful projects have been undertaken, including :

  • The building of a church which is also a community centre that has hosted medical missions and marriage courses. Here a women’s co-operative meet and collectively work to create crafts to sell and sanitary towels.
  • Purchase of land which now grows coffee, pineapples and maize.
  • Construction of 2 water tanks.
  • Chicken farming which feeds and provides a small income for at least 10 families.
  • Reaching out to the most needy in the community with food and provision.

The work is always ongoing and needed, especially in times of instability, whether due to climate extremes, politics or world events like Covid, the impact of which is still being felt.

Having visited Robert and the community five times (which I self fund), I can assure you that not a single dollar of people’s donations goes to waste, but is invested directly into projects which the people of Kyntale are directly involved with overseeing and running themselves. We encourage them to undertake projects that will feed their families, but also generate enough income to reinvest and to ensure they help the neediest.

We have exciting plans for the future and believe they will come to pass through diligence, hard work and working together as we unite with them through our giving.

By sowing your seed you will help them continue to bear more fruit and give their children a future.

THANK YOU for considering sowing your seed today
